Case Study – Future-Ready Digital Signage Upgrade at Humber River Hospital

The Province of Ontario’s P3 hospitals follow the Design-Build-Finance-Maintain model to ensure facilities remain in “as-new” condition for 30 years. As part of this mandate, Johnson Controls oversees technical operations—including digital signage—supported by Capital Networks, whose Audience™ CMS provides the reliable, centralized communication framework needed across healthcare environments. At Humber River Hospital in Toronto, aging signage hardware prompted a lifecycle upgrade, leading Capital Networks to partner with Thorvin Electronics to identify the next-generation replacement platform.

In collaboration with Bluefin International, the team delivered a modern, infection-control-sensitive digital signage solution featuring custom hardware design and BrightSign OS integration. The result is a future-proof system that supports seamless, real-time patient status communication, strengthening safety, efficiency, and overall hospital performance.
