Edcom installs Audience™ digital signage system at London Convention Centre
Edcom Multimedia Products has recently completed an advanced Audience™ digital signage implementation with
the London Convention Centre (LCC) in London, ON. This deployment involved 22 different displays and 17 unique content presentations.
In the London Convention Centre there was a need to efficiently and effectively present meeting room information to attendees of the center. This information includes companies that have bookings for the day, individual events for each company, room location and meeting times.
To display this information a network of LCD and Plasma displays were used in the main lobby; elevator waiting areas, exits/entrances and outside individual meeting rooms.
An Audience.web™ solution was deployed with the one central Audience™ workstation providing design, scheduling, data automation and Audience.web™ hosting functions and 17 rack-mounted 'thin-client' computers as display devices.
The most important operational issue with this installation was data automation and the Audience.data™ module provided the right solution. All information displayed on the digital signage screens is automatically generated from a data base program that the LCC uses to manage their meeting room bookings. Gary Cain, Production Manager for Huge Ideas (a division of Edcom Multimedia) explains "Once an event is entered in the London Convention Centre database, Audience™ does the rest, so no further employee action is required".
Individual playbacks for each room display a list of upcoming events for that room, plus the current event. The information is played using user-selected templates which allows the LCC to include a logo if the client provides one and /or allows them to include extra text information. If there are no events scheduled for that room that day, a series of promotional pages for LCC show in place of event information.
The key Audience™ features used in this install include:
• Audience.data™ data automation
• Flexible scheduling capabilities for page and magazine scheduling (time-rages / date ranges)
• Sharing content across multiple playbacks
• Contentious scheduling model to accommodate events and emergency information.
